In brief: Degree programmes of the Islamic Institute of Advanced Research: top-up B.Litt (Hons), top-up M.Litt (Hons), MPhil, Doctor of Letters and post-doctoral research.
IIAR’s programmes are research-based. You select a specialisation, agree a topic with your supervisor, write and defend a dissertation, and receive your award.

| Top-up Bachelor of Letters with Honours (B.Litt Hons) | Relevant bachelor’s degree; degree in the humanities, social or administrative sciences or a field related to your dissertation topic in Islam, religion or Sufism; or completed alim course | From 6 months |
| Top-up Master of Letters with Honours (M.Litt Hons) | Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent prior learning | From 6 months |
| Master of Philosophy (MPhil) | Master’s degree or M.Litt in a relevant field | 12–18 months |
| Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) | M.A. or MPhil in a relevant field (required) | 24–36 months |
| Post-doctoral research | Doctorate in a relevant field | 6–12 months |
*Indicative; the schedule is agreed at enrolment and depends on your prior learning and the time you need to complete and pass your dissertation.
