If you already hold a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in the humanities, the social or administrative sciences, or a field related to your dissertation topic in Islam, religion or Sufism, or have completed an alim course, you may complete the top-up B.Litt (Hons) or M.Litt (Hons) in as little as six months after writing and passing a dissertation in your chosen specialisation.

Steps

  1. Send your certificates and transcripts for prior-learning assessment.
  2. Choose a specialisation: see all fields.
  3. Agree a dissertation topic and timetable with your supervisor.
  4. Write the dissertation following the dissertation guide.
  5. Submit; if it passes evaluation, you receive your award.

Conditions

  • The six-month timetable is the fastest route, not a guarantee; it depends on assessment of your prior learning and on the dissertation meeting required standards.
  • Revisions may be required before a pass.
  • Every candidate completes original written work — no award is given without a passed dissertation.
